Curious Chef – The perfect cooking tools for getting your kids in the kitchen! Review

When it comes to cooking with your kids or teaching them to cook, you can just use your tools which may be fine for you but your kids may not take ownership of their work and the tools can feel overwhelming or be hard to differentiate. Sometimes, it’s worth taking that extra step to help our kids by getting them the tools they need to succeed in the kitchen. My oldest takes cooking classes at Young Chef’s Academy where we first learned about Curious Chef tools so when there was an opportunity to review them, he was so excited to start cooking more at home too!
Curious Chef tools are colorful cooking utensils designed for kids to use safely and easily. These are genuine, high quality tools that any budding chef can feel proud of since they can follow the directions of a recipe using their own tools! As I talk about every Friday, but really have to get better about taking more pictures, my boys (ages 2 & 4) love helping in the kitchen. From preparing simple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to helping mix up a complicated night’s dinner or dessert, they are there in their aprons ready to assist with all their tools pulled out of the drawer. Yes, I had to clean out one of my kitchen drawers to give them space for their kitchen tools. A place that they store their Curious Chef tools, small wooden spoons, and some other child-sized tools.

We received the Curious Chef 17-piece measure and prep set for review that includes all the basic kitchen tools to get you started with teaching your kids to cook! What we really like about Curious Chef tools are the shapes. The oval or oblong shape of the measuring spoons and cups make it so much easier for them to scoop and measure flour or sugar and scrape it off then when they used our cups. Plus we can request the amount we need by color (I don’t know about your measuring cups and spoons, but all of my “grown-up” ones look the same) making them take ownership of the recipes. The prep bowls have a great handle-style edge on one side making it easy for small hands to grab when prepping food and each comes with a matching lid for storage! We haven’t had much luck with the kitchen timer, but it may be more of an issue of impatient kids wanting it to go off earlier than scheduled and over-spinning the dial.

Buy It!
The 17-piece measure and prep set includes a 6 piece measuring spoon set, 6 piece measuring cup set, poly spoon, 3 piece prep bowl set, and kitchen timer and retails for $19.99!
