Remembering our veterans on Memorial Day!

Remembering our veterans this Memorial Day and thinking of those currently serving our country! Thank you for all you do and to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, thank you for giving me my freedom, may you rest in peace this Memorial Day!  Celebrate Memorial Day, not only by grilling burgers and hotdogs, but by flying the American flag and taking the time to remember those that have served our country for so many years!

I received the following in an e-mail this morning, and it is such a good reminder, I thought I would share it:

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

eShakti - Great Company, Beautiful Clothing! $15 off your first order

So I received this beautiful dress from eShakti, and I couldn't say enough wonderful things about the quality of workmanship, the style, the color, and the attention to detail!   Here's what the site said about the dress (and these words truly don't do it justice, so I'll try my best to convince you to go and check out their clothing)!

A trio of fabric flowers embellishes a scoop-neck sheath, beautifully shaped with softly puffed cap sleeves and a banded Empire waist.

• Side zip.
• Pickstitch detailing at waist.
• Below knee length.
• Lined.
• Cotton satin; machine wash.
Cost - $54.95, colors available: Turquoise, Poppy Red, Royal Blue, Wild Orchid

Once I received the dress, I really couldn't believe that the price was only $54.95!  I chose the Royal Blue, hoping it was as beautiful as the picture above, and it truly is gorgeous!  Even my husband commented that he never saw something that really fit me so perfectly and brought out my blue eyes (now that's a compliment from the guy that doesn't say much)!  I wanted to see how the standard sizing fit with just including my bra size since I am rather large chested instead of actually taking my measurements!  Yes, eShakti offers custom sizing for a small fee ($15) over the cost of the garment (totally worth it and I will take the time to measure next time since I know eShakti pieces will become showcase items in my wardrobe from now on)!  Since I was truly amazed how the quality of the workmanship, I opted to take the dress into work on the hanger and see how many eyes it caught just hanging on my coat rack in my office!  The dress was noticed by many, and even my "brand name only" clothing friends took note and were off to place their orders at eShaktieShakti offers clothing in sizes 0 to 26W, and so many options in classic to trendy styles so they will truly fit everyone's taste!

When it comes to quality workmanship, I haven't seen a dress made like this in a very long time and definitely not at this price!  The dress is fully lined in the same color material, the seams on both the dress and the liner are finished.  The neckline, sleeves, and empire waist are exquisitely done and all seams that normally tug when worn are reinforced.  The zipper is also finished at the top and bottom, and the sewing around the zipper is reinforced.  eShakti also modified the dress to include additional darting on the interior of the dress that took account for my bra size entered on the order screen.  The darts are not extreme and blend with the design of the dress, something I normally don't see when I buy fitted items that work for my DDD cup size!  The flowers are hand stitched to the dress, and make for a great finishing touch!  If you look closely at the dress, and believe me I did, you can see hand tacking and sewing!

Although you can't purchase this exact dress at eShakti anymore (the inventory changes fairly frequently and with the seasons, so if you love something, go ahead and purchase it!), there are many beautiful dresses and plenty of gorgeous pieces of clothing.  If you always wear a standard size regardless of the brand, you'll probably be okay ordering a standard sizing like I did and just including your bra size so that the item is more customized to you, but if you have a hard time finding your size, take the time and follow the sizing guides and order custom clothing!

When it comes to value for the money, eShakti really can't be beat!  If you aren't happy, for returns in the U.S. and U.K., you can send back unworn items to a U.S. address located on the website within thirty days, despite the fact that items are actually produced and sent from eShakti's main office in Chennai, India. This proves to be very convenient for customers, particularly when combined with individualized customer service.

As I said in the post title, right now if you are a new customer, you can sign up to save $15 off your first order!  With such beautiful clothing and so many options to fit just about everyone's taste, please go and check out eShakti!  I know I won't be disappointed, now I just have to figure out what I want to order next....I always have trouble finding dresses at the store, so I think that will be it until the fall jackets come out but which color...so many choices!

Disclosure:  eShakti provided me with the dress for review (which I love, so thank you!).  The opinions expressed are mine and may not be representative of others' views!  I hope you'll check out eShakti and let me know what you think!

Deal of the Day Sites - Save up to 90% with great deals that change daily!

Recently, I have fallen for deal of the day sites with group buying power! We have found some great deals at Groupon on everything from dental exams at 90% off, great restaurants at over 50% off, baseball tickets, Three Dog Bakery, classes for our kids, to shopping, and who could resist shopping at 50-70% off! There are lots of sites popping up, but some have been around a little bit longer and therefore have a bigger audience so you are more likely to get the deal!

My favorite site has to be Groupon! It is in most major cities, and even some smaller cities. Savings are up to 90% off and they include a discussion board so you can pose questions before buying. They also typically offer a side deal for the larger cities, so many days there is more than one option. I live in the DFW metroplex, so I have two cities to choose from plus the side deals! Yeah!  The other great bonus about Groupon is that they tell you exactly how many deals have to be purchased before the deal is guaranteed, so you know when you're buying it whether or not you'll get it!  You use your printout like a gift certificate, but you won't get any change back so be sure to spend a few extra cents!

Seize the Deal is coming quickly to cities nationwide. They will launch in Dallas-Fort Worth soon with some great deals but you can also check out the cities they are in now and their future hot spots. They have a plan to add a multitude of cities this year so check back often to see if your city is included!

Living Social is also expanding quickly! Check them out here to see if your city or a city near you is participating!

Lunchables Field Trips for All! Nominate a classroom today!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Lunchables. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hands-on experiences like field trips can help engage children in learning that can open their eyes to the world beyond the classroom. That’s why Lunchables Lunch Combinations wants to help deserving kids across the country go on an inspiring, educational experience with the launch of the program, “Field Trips For All.”

Field Trips For All” is the first effort from the Lunchables Team’s new initiative called Project Potential. Aimed at empowering kids with opportunities to help them reach their full potential, Project Potential will provide enriching experiences kids might otherwise not have. With tight state budgets, the housing market crash which causes housing tax revenues to decrease impacting schools, there is a direct impact to school budgets, especially extracurricular activities like field trips! According to a 2009 report from The American Association of School Administrators, it’s estimated that over the course of the current school year, the number of school districts eliminating field trips will increase by 56 percent. That’s more than 30,000 schools this year alone.

I'm sure you remember some of the great field trips from your childhood! I remember visiting the NASA Space Center in Houston and going to Astroworld during high school, and as a young kid going to petting zoos, museums, and even a ballet once! I hope my kids can experience the same things growing up, but unfortunately, so many kids will only have those experiences through their own families and many can't afford it! Lunchables Field Trips For All is a great opportunity to provide those activities to kids in our communities this year!  I'm sure you know a deserving classroom!

Check out the "Alien Field Trip," that was taken by fifth graders from Los Angeles!

After seeing a great field trip experience, please nominate someone you feel is deserving of this award. Don't forget to spread the word about this contest! Tell your friends, and the parents of children in your children's classroom! If you nominate a classroom, please leave a comment about who you nominated and why in the comments of this post! Let's help our kids experience something great! Anyone 6 years of age or older can nominate a deserving classroom by going to http://www.lunchables.com/potential/ and submitting a nomination. From all nominations received, 50 classrooms will be selected to go on an inspiring, educational experience.
