So close to just being able to drink out of the bathroom sink....
now if they would just fill it to the top, I'd be set!

Bandablings: What every dog needs! Review & Giveaway (5 winners) - US Only - CLOSD

This giveaway has ended! Thanks for visiting!

As I mentioned earlier this morning, Logan received a Slobber Blotter™ and a Bandabling from Bandabling to review and he just loved them but I wanted to tell you a little more about our experience and about this company!  The patent pending Slobber Blotter™ won the prestigious pet industry award for best new pet product in 2009!  If you have a slobbering dog breed, this is definitely the bandana for you!  As the company states, this is, "the "Must Have, Need to Have" pet bandana. Finally, a product that lets the slobbering, drooling, dripping dogs do it in style while you no longer have it on floors, furniture, in the car and on your clothes. Just blot it all away."

When I first saw the Slobber Blotter™ I immediately thought of a big bib for drooly dogs made of super-soft terry cloth (I wish my towels were this soft) and the cotton fabric is really durable too!  The Slobber Blotter™ has two snaps making it easily adjustable, but you can also roll it (as shown on Logan) for a snugger fit!
Logan sporting his Slobber Blotter with the neck rolled for a tighter fit!
No one will ever know that your furbaby is wearing a drool bib because it looks like a stylish bandana.  It's long enough to catch the drool and gives you enough room to wipe up the drool as it comes flying at you!  There will no longer be a need to carry rags and paper towels with you everywhere!  The Slobber Blotter™ is perfect for Bull Mastiffs, St Bernard's, Newfoundlands, Rottweilers, Great Danes and all the other slobbering dogs we love.

And for all the pet parents of non-drooling dogs, you really need to check out Bandablings!  The Snap On, Snap Off, adjustable snap closure, allows for easier sizing, and greater comfort and safety. Bandablings eliminate tie bandanas to reduce choking hazards and do not get caught in the dog’s fur like Velcro®. Bandablings were the winner of Best New Pet Product 2008 for safety, innovation and design.  Logan absolutely loves his Bandabling!  As a Great Dane, Bandabling sent a size Large which fits him perfectly!  The Bandabling covers his collar on the loosest snap but could also be worn tighter with the adjustable snaps!  There is amazing attention to detail with these bandanas!  Every Bandabling is hand sewn and hand snapped and it shows!

Logan in his BandaBling!
Logan's Bandabling is adorned with three small metal bones and is made with a heavy-weight cotton.  I think these colors look amazing on him too!  The snaps hold the Bandabling secure enough for the kids to pull on it, but also came undone easily when he got stuck on a tree in the backyard which was a definite plus (something that wouldn't have happened with a traditional bandana)!

Bandabling also supports dog rescue and education groups!  Please check out these rescue groups and help support these organizations in need of funds to care for animals without a home and in need of medical attention.  One very near and dear to our hearts is MAGDRL (Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League) who once fostered "Dewey" and helped him find his way to our home as Logan in 2003!  The Dogue de Bordeaux Society and Golden Retriever Rescue and Education Organization!

You also have a wonderful opportunity to support our veterans! If you make a purchase of the Hound Up the Troops Bandabling, you'll receive free shipping and $1.00 of your purchase will go directly to Walter Reed Medical Center! Your dog will look awesome and you'll be helping our troops at the same time!

Logan loving his new BandaBlings while he hangs out in the yard!

Today's post all about Logan is sponsored by BandaBling!  I loved BandaBling's products and they noticed that Logan was always wearing the typical bandanas in his pictures and wanted him to get a little fancier so check out his new look!  Isn't he cute?  Logan loved his BandaBling and SlobberBlotter (full review & giveaway later this morning) - can't you tell by these wonderful smiles!

Logan wearing his new Slobber Blotter courtesy of BandaBling
I wish our grass was a little greener, but with 17 days straight with temperatures over 100 degrees I guess I can be happy with spots of green and trees that are still alive!  Logan doesn't seem to mind and enjoyed sunbathing, even if he could only take it for about 5 minutes before wanting to head inside!

Logan loving his new BandaBling - he hasn't taken it off since we put it on him!
Waiting patiently at the back door as the tongue hangs even farther out of my mouth...geez it's hot in Texas...I miss the Northeast where I was born!  You should see me in the winter - this heat is killing me, but I do enjoy sunbathing!

Disclosure: The SlobberBlotter & BandaBling were provided by BandaBling for Logan to check out and wear during this week's post! No additional compensation was received! Logan loves his BandaBling so much that if you come to visit, he'll definitely be wearing it!  I think this puppy could get used to product reviews!
He knew the package was for him the moment I opened it!

Really mom? They'll see my runny nose at that angle!

I've been testing out my new keyhole lens adapter on my camera and I still don't think I have the settings right, but I wanted that lens just to take pictures down the nose of Logan because I think he has the most precious face!  Since he got up after the flash woke him up, I don't think he was too happy with the extreme closeup!  Poor sleepy puppy...but he got back at me since he wiped his nose across our new bedding on his way to his new doggie bed (we purchased a water-proof, stain-proof one this time, so it should help with the cat pee issues).  Now the pee will likely just run off and ruin the carpet - great planning on my part!

Is it too hot for your dog?

Just a reminder that it's likely too hot to take your dog along with you this time of year! Think about how hot your car is when you first get in it...even cracking the window isn't enough! If you see a dog locked in a car, don't hesitate to contact authorities to save a puppy's life!  Help spread the word in your community!

But Mommy I don't want my picture taken!

Somedays I just can't get Logan to take a picture...so I have to wait until he's too tired to fight it anymore! Hence this extreme closeup...I'm guessing you can sense the "I've given up look on his face, just take the picture, I'm tired of looking completely away."  Of course, as I look at this closeup I see the additional gray hairs (he used to be completely black) that show the years creeping up on us!  He's definitely our four-legged baby and as he ages gracefully past 8 years old (an estimate since he was found alongside a road in Pennslyvania in 2003 living off apples), we hope that he was truly cured from the Lyme disease he endured in the early years, and that he grows old gracefully and we have many more years with him!

Review & Giveaway: Doggie Doo Drain...the eco-friendly waste disposal system!

This giveaway has ended!  Thanks for visiting!
I received the Doggie Doo Drain to review earlier this month, and was surprised at the ease of installation and use!  I really wanted to try it out for a couple weeks before reviewing it to check out its durability in these hot Texas summers!  It really is as simple (no plumber needed for installation, simply screw it in and you're ready - just don't overtighten) as noted on the Doggie Doo Drain website and so far has lived up to the Texas summer heat!  We are always scooping the poop in our yard to keep it clean for the kids, but didn't like the idea of sending it to the landfill so the Doggie Doo Drain was a great solution!  Essentially the Doggie Doo Drain acts like a human waste system, flushing your dog's waste down the sewer line (with the help of a hose) to the waste water treatment plant where it is properly treated and disposed of!  If you have a dog, this is truly the answer to responsible pet ownership!
I only wish out sanitary sewer cleanout was located in the backyard instead of the front yard!  To get around this issue at our house, we invested in a $5, 5 gallon bucket to cart the pet waste to the front for disposal.  I am so jealous of anyone with a sewer cleanout in their backyard right about now!  We also found that adding a little water as your are scooping the pet waste into the drain completely avoids any potential clogging but be careful of backspray as you wash the pet waste down the Doggie Doo DrainDoggie Doo Drains encourages eco-friendly pet waste removal and has sent me a second Doggie Doo Drain to give away to one lucky reader...keep reading for details!  Plus it really blends with most landscaping...I used the picture from Doggie Doo Drains because our sewer cleanout is actually hidden behind a rose bush and a crepe myrtle tree so you wouldn't be able to see the Doggie Doo Drain in place (can we say slightly overgrown?).

Today, I'm stealing your bed mom!

As I said last week, when the cat poops on your bed you steal the cat's bed...but when your bed gets thrown out because the cat pees on your bed after it's been washed...well then you steal mom's bed! Logan even slightly opened one eye just to see how long he could get away with sleeping on the bed before being sent to the sofa (hey at least he gets the sofa)!  I think he prefers our Tempur-Pedic mattress anyday based on the amount of black hair that accumulates on the comforter!

The cat pooped on my bed, so I'm stealing!

Logan decided that if the cat poops in his bed instead of sleeping on the carpet or wood floors, he was just going to steal!  Can't say I blame him, but it is kind of cute seeing him try to squeeze into this cat bed!  You can size compare to the random hot wheel in the foreground of the photo!

I don't want to listen - I'm having fun outside!

Even when the grass is burned up and it's hot outside, sometimes Logan just gets tired of us and prefers to stay outside regardless of what we say - even if it means covering his ears like a 2-year old!  Hmm...wonder where he learned that one!

Logan and the bright pink tu-tu!

I can't take credit for these really cute pictures of our dog Logan (yes, he's a boy) that I'll be featuring over the next couple of weeks! These pictures were taken by our photographer Glenda of Alexander Portrait Designers for an advertisement to raise food for a local animal shelter (noticed all boy parts were covered to protect the dignity of the innocent participant)! He really hated that we were putting pink tu-tu's on him, but he still gave us some beautiful pictures!

The doggy who gets no love...

You all met Logan last week but I thought he needed a little bit more of a regular spot here so I thought I would let you all shower him with love since he says he gets none at home!

I returned home from work today and he ran to me with reckless abandon wanting/needing some love (after spending the day with the boys surely trapseing over him continuously)! I think he barely missed knocking me on my butt, although that might have been the ultimate goal he had in mind, just to get a few extra head pats before the evening got too busy!  I guess it's a hard life when you spend it curled up in a tiny ball on the couch trying to avoid being spotted by two playful toddlers when you would rather lead the life of a sleepy cat!

Here he is...I know I keep promising to talk about the dog!

Here he is....Logan, our completely lazy, velcro dane that is now pushing 9 years old! He would rather hold the couch down than chase a tennis ball and prefers to think he's a cat most days!  I promise to talk more about him because he truly is the coolest dog you will ever meet!  Maybe Logan can become a weekly feature here on Two Monkeys & a Washtub!

He was adopted from Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League in June of 2002!  MAGDRL is one of the best rescue leagues and they have a lot of great fundraisers and events, so if you live in the Mid-Atlantic region, check out their web page and help support those that rescue the gentle giants!
