Dolly Parton Letter to Heaven: Songs of Faith & Inspiration, Music Review

Dolly Parton released Letter to Heaven: Songs of Faith & Inspiration on May 4, 2010! This CD really emphasizes songs of hope and inspiration through Dolly's wonderful vocals. Instrumental background music is limited so that Dolly Parton's distinctive vocals stand out as she sings timeless gospel classics and a personal tribute to her own grandfather, "Daddy Was An Old Time Preacher Man," as well as, many songs written by Dolly showcasing her talent as not only a singer but also a songwriter.

Many of the tracks are from Dolly's 1971 album, Golden Streets of Glory, and Sony/RCA did a wonderful job of remastering those greats and including additional tracks from Parton's albums through the years. Although Dolly Parton is known for recording many types of music from Country to Bluegrass to Gospel, this album truly showcases her gospel music with beautiful vocals.

Letter to Heaven: Songs of Faith & Inspiration is available at Amazon for only $10.99 and you can sample the album before purchasing it. For Dolly fans and fans of gospel music, you won't be disappointed!

The Essential Carole King (Music Review) & Online Contest (Enter by 6/7)

The Essential Carole King 2-CD set highlighting the best of Carole King was released on April 27! For four decades, Carole King has been writing and singing some of the most memorable music of our lives. This 2-CD set includes both Carole King, duets with more recent greats such as Celine Dion and Babyface, and even classics such as Aretha Franklin, The Drifters, and even The Monkees!

The King collection features one CD dedicated to King's own solo work, while the second CD covers songs that she wrote or co-wrote and were hits by other artists. Since Carole King is usually referred to as a "singer-songwriter", this approach to compiling an "Essential" CD set is amazing. Of course, a 2-CD set is not enough to cover both King's solo work and songwriting, but this collection does a fine job of hitting the major points in King's prolific career.

In addition, Carole King is currently on tour, and you can enter now through June 7th to win tickets to see Carole King with James Taylor at the Troubadour Reunion Show in Las Vegas! Enter here!

You can purchase The Essential Carole King at Amazon for $12.99, and even sample the 2-CD set before purchasing but you won't be disappointed!
