Blue Platypus Vintage Style Chic Clothing & Accessories! Review & Giveaway

If you’re looking for a vintage, yet modern look in your clothing, you should really check out Blue Platypus! Using visual elements to create the look, you won’t find generic sayings in this line of clothing. Blue Platypus has definitely struck an amazing balance between kitsch, natural, and vintage elements that will catch your interest.
I was given the opportunity to review something from Blue Platypus, and although I loved many of their clothing styles at the time, they also had a multitude of handbags to choose from (currently sold out) and I love handbags so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a gorgeous bag, especially with polka-dots! How cute! The bag is really well made and I am throroughly impressed with it’s design, especially the cute wooden handles and satin lining.

If I were picking clothing from Blue Platypus, here are a few of my favorites (Who Can It Be Now? Eggplant, Rouge Flutterby, and Old School Dandylion Lavendar)!

Win It – Giveaway Details
One winner will win their choice of item from Blue Platypus (up to a $30 value). This giveaway is open to US only and will end on December 30th, at 10;00PM Central. I’ll email the winner who will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen.

Mandatory Entry
Visit Blue Platypus and let me know what your favorite design is from the selection available. If entering, please ensure that your size is available. Blue Platypus sizes run small for misses and compare better to juniors.

Lovable Labels - Label your kids things holiday gift pack! Review & Giveaway

When it comes to kid's items, it seems like everything has to be labeled and I don't know about you but I have a problem writing on everything with a permanent marker because so many times it's bled through the fabric!  Lovable Labels solves this issue with it's adorable labels so you can easily label all the items your kids need each and everyday and not worry about the wrong backpack coming home or losing that extra set of clothing you are supposed to send to the preschool because it wasn't labeled!
We received the Lovable Labels Holiday Pack - Santa's Pick and were able to personalize with the icon we wanted (train #6) and I added our last name so that I could use for either son!

This pack of labels was definitely designed with the essentials in mind. Wrapped in a pretty red foil package, the recipient will receive 15 Multi-Purpose Stickers, 40 Slimline Labels, 12 Shoe Labels, 24 Press N' Stick Clothing DOTS (6 Large, 6 Medium and 12 Small) and 2 Mini-Metal Tags (icons available for this pack are shown below).
So far, we've applied labels to lightweight jackets, winter coats, shoes, backpacks, shoes, lunch boxes, and water bottles.  We opted for the slimline sticker labels for the water bottles and they have survived at least 6 trips through the dishwasher so far without peeling or fading (definite plus in my book!)!  We haven't laundered any of the jackets yet, but with the test in the dishwasher and the sturdiness of these labels, I'm sure we won't have any problems.  My boys love these labels and are so excited to label all of their personal items!

Buy It!
Lovable Labels offers a wide selection of labels and gift packs perfect for labeling just about anything you might need!

Win It - Giveaway Details!
One winner will win the Lovable Labels Holiday Pack - Santa's Pick shown in the colors above!  The winner will get to select the name personalization and the icon that they would like on their labels (one icon for the set)!  This giveaway will end on December 22nd at 10:00PM Central.  I'll email the winner who will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen.

Zippo Outdoor Utility Lighter would make the perfect stocking stuffer! Review

We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to review the Zippo Outdoor Utility Lighter.  The first thing we noticed when taking it out of the package is that it's got a rugged metal construction with an ergonomic handle so it's still easy for an adult to use.

This 8-inch lighter features a wind-resistant adjustable dual flame system which is ideal for us since almost anywhere we seem to camp there is a wind either off the lake or due to campground environment.  Plus it really works!  We've even used it in the backyard simply to light the barbecue grill when we just can't get the electronic ignition to light due to the wind in the area.

The Zippo Outdoor Utility Lighter also has an advanced ignition system for easy lighting but still offers a patented child-resistant safety button. Although my boys are still young, they are at the age where they love to help with everything so at least this is one less thing I have to worry about as a parent when we're out camping, hiking or tailgating!  This childproof button and ignition system truly takes the strength of an adult hand to ignite!  The lighter is refillable with butane, so that should make this a one-time purchase that you can continually refill for long-term use!

The Zippo Outdoor Utility Lighter would be ideal for camping, fishing, hiking, tailgating and more but it's also reliable enough for uses you may have around the home such as simply lighting the barbecue. Retails for $19.95!  You can read more about this lighter and other Zippo products at http://www.zippo.com/!

Disclosure:  We received the Zippo Outdorr Utility Lighter for review in exchange for our honest opinions.  No additional compensation was received.

VinylizeIt – Beautiful Wall Décor for your home! Review & Giveaway

It can be hard to find the perfect decorations for little boys rooms, and my older son was moving on to his big boy bed and big boy art, so my youngest wanted something to call his own. The problem, when they are only 2, you really don’t want frames with glass…but vinyl decals are a perfect alternative! When there was an opportunity to apply a little more elbow grease to the application of a wall decal, we jumped at the opportunity to review a decal from VinylizeIt!

Our youngest son just loves his toys and his trains so we knew this decal, "So Many Toys, So Little Time" would be perfect for him!

Wall decals take patience to install and the larger they are, the more patience it can take, especially with satin or semi-gloss painted walls. If you have flat finish paint, they are really easy (at least in comparison)! We made sure the decal was level using a levels and painter’s tape to hold it to the wall while we were applying. If you’re looking to apply your own, this video has some great tips:

Our youngest thinks it is pretty cool to have his own “art” in his room that really reflects his personality with the trains across the top and the words, “So Many Toys, So Little Time” because I think he really feels we are on the go so much that he never gets the chance to just sit and play! The decals are well made, I just wish they came with an applicator/scraper. It took us a little while to track down the perfect grocery store/gift card to apply the decal to the wall and something a little sturdier would have made the job even easier but the quality of the graphic is great!

Buy It!
Purchase high-quality wall decals for your home, car, or crafts from VinylizeIt. With over 500 pre-designed items, you’ll likely find what you’re looking for, but if you don’t, you can contact them for assistance in designing the perfect item for your home or car!

Win It – Giveaway Details!
One winner will receive a $25 gift certificate for use towards your purchase at VinylizeIt. This giveaway is open to US only and will end on December 20th at 10:00PM Central. I’ll email the winner who will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen!

Head Chefs – Fun kitchen tools for kids & adults and great stocking stuffers! Review

So you’ve gotten your kids in the kitchen, but you’re looking for some fun to mix in or some great tools to keep them entertained while they help you? Head Chefs might just be what you’re looking for! These fun/funny tools were designed with kids and adults in mind, and should definitely be considered for stocking stuffers this year!

Kids love to help, especially when they’re young, but as they get older, you may need a little encouragement, or you may just be looking for new tools to bring them back to the kitchen! Head Chefs is a line of kitchen tools that is really creative and well-made too plus they are dishwasher safe which is always a plus in my book! These fun tools each are definitely durable, are bendable (the little arms and legs can be bent and moved), and the feet are suction cups, so they stand at the ready to help you on your next task.

I know my kids loved the Head Chefs and giggled almost non-stop the first time they used them as they held them to stir and my oldest (age 4) looked at me and said, “Mommy, look the spoon holds its breath under the cake batter!” which was just too cute. I can also say that the icing spreader was a definite hit at our house! We made mini cakes and allowed everyone to ice their own cake using the Head Chef icing spreader; the response was definitely a round of giggles and full laughter!

If you’re looking for fun kitchen tools, you should check out Head Chefs!

You can purchase Head Chefs products in many stores nationwide or directly from Head Chefs online store where you'll receive free shipping when you spend $60 or more!

Curious Chef – The perfect cooking tools for getting your kids in the kitchen! Review

When it comes to cooking with your kids or teaching them to cook, you can just use your tools which may be fine for you but your kids may not take ownership of their work and the tools can feel overwhelming or be hard to differentiate. Sometimes, it’s worth taking that extra step to help our kids by getting them the tools they need to succeed in the kitchen. My oldest takes cooking classes at Young Chef’s Academy where we first learned about Curious Chef tools so when there was an opportunity to review them, he was so excited to start cooking more at home too!
Curious Chef tools are colorful cooking utensils designed for kids to use safely and easily. These are genuine, high quality tools that any budding chef can feel proud of since they can follow the directions of a recipe using their own tools! As I talk about every Friday, but really have to get better about taking more pictures, my boys (ages 2 & 4) love helping in the kitchen. From preparing simple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to helping mix up a complicated night’s dinner or dessert, they are there in their aprons ready to assist with all their tools pulled out of the drawer. Yes, I had to clean out one of my kitchen drawers to give them space for their kitchen tools. A place that they store their Curious Chef tools, small wooden spoons, and some other child-sized tools.

We received the Curious Chef 17-piece measure and prep set for review that includes all the basic kitchen tools to get you started with teaching your kids to cook! What we really like about Curious Chef tools are the shapes. The oval or oblong shape of the measuring spoons and cups make it so much easier for them to scoop and measure flour or sugar and scrape it off then when they used our cups. Plus we can request the amount we need by color (I don’t know about your measuring cups and spoons, but all of my “grown-up” ones look the same) making them take ownership of the recipes. The prep bowls have a great handle-style edge on one side making it easy for small hands to grab when prepping food and each comes with a matching lid for storage! We haven’t had much luck with the kitchen timer, but it may be more of an issue of impatient kids wanting it to go off earlier than scheduled and over-spinning the dial.

Buy It!
The 17-piece measure and prep set includes a 6 piece measuring spoon set, 6 piece measuring cup set, poly spoon, 3 piece prep bowl set, and kitchen timer and retails for $19.99! Many other fun kitchen tools and gadgets designed with kids in mind are also available!  Free shipping when you order directly from Curious Chef online (order 6 individual items for free shipping) but many items may also be available at retailers near you!

Disclosure: We received the 17-piece measure and prep set for review in exchange for our opinions. No additional compensation was received.

Milk Bones should fill the stockings of your four-legged friends! Review & Giveaway

There isn't a treat that Logan doesn't like...okay, maybe the one time we picked the low fat, veggie treats...but if it's from Milk-Bone, I'd be surprised if he even tastes anything as it's consumed since it goes down so quickly!  Milk-Bone was gracious enough to send Logan a wonderful review package with treats and a new Bandana and he couldn't wait until after Christmas to try the treats (of course)!

Logan definitely loves the soft & chewy treats from Milk-Bone.  They've been one of his favorites for a long time!  This was only the second time that he had tried the Oral Care Crunchy Bites, and he's still debating whether or not these are his favorite (but he can be pickier when it comes to crunchy treats unless they are just Milk-Bones)!  The Bandana is a great reminder this holiday season that "It's Good to Give" and when you're giving please don't forget about animal-related charities or your local animal shelters (many are in need of basic necessities like bathroom rugs, towels, and blankets - used are perfect)!

Buy It!
Milk-Bone products are available at most major retailers and pet supply stores so you shouldn't have any problem finding these treats for your dogs!

Win It - Giveaway Details!
One winner will win a Milk-Bone prize package that includes:  Milk-Bone Soft & Chewy treats, Milk-Bone Essential Plus Oral Care Crunchy Bites, and a Milk-Bone "It's Good to Give" bandana!  This giveaway is open to US only and will end on December 27th at 10:00PM Central.  I'll email the winner who will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen!

Tukiaz Personalized Desk & Wall Calendars will make a perfect gift! Review & Giveaway!

It's amazing to see your children's reactions when they first begin to recognize their own names, so when we were given the opportunity to review a personalized calendar from Tukiaz products I definitely had to get their names on it!  We chose Smile Set 2 and used both first names of our sons....you'd probably want to stick to one name as it's designed, but my boys love finding their names on the calendar and can't wait until January when we hang this up for good!
So what does personalized with your name really mean?  Just like the picture shows, if you enter the name John, suddenly your name will be written in the fireworks over the Statue of Liberty (for this image) or your name could be written in the snow on a windshield or carved in the sand on the beach!  How cool is that?  This is definitely the perfect gift for almost anyone on your list regardless of their age!  Want to see how your name looks on the back of a baseball jersey or written across the backs of Santa?  You'll see a preview of your item as you go through the personalization process at ordering!

Tukiaz Products really are a lot of fun and very high quality!  Our calendar has been flipped through and fought over by a 2 & 4-year old and survived multiple times and I could never say the same for a typical store-bought calendar!  I wish I would have checked for holiday cards earlier, there are some really fun ones you can personalize...granted when you have a longer last name, there are a lot of Santas standing in line!

Buy It!
You can purchase a personalized desk ($14.99 +s&h) or wall calendar ($19.99 +s&h) from Tukiaz products or pick from their amazing personalized product line!  There is a 2-week ship estimate on their FAQs, so you'd have to check for Christmas delivery!

Win It - Giveaway Details!
One winner will receive a Tukiaz desk calendar with their personalization and choice of images (Shipping is NOT included).  This giveaway is open to US only and will end on December 20th at 10:00PM Central.  I'll email the winner who will have 48-hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen!

A Homemade Christmas: Creative Ideas for an Earth-Friendly, Frugal, Festive Holiday by Tina Barseghian - Review!

A HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS: Creative Ideas for an Earth-Friendly, Frugal, Festive Holiday by Tina Barseghian includes many great ideas for quick and festive decorations and gifts this holiday season and for years to come!
A Homemade Christmas: Creative Ideas for an Earth-Friendly, Frugal, Festive Holiday

I made the snow globes but of course added my own innovations even though I tried to follow the directions in the book. I like the idea of making your own safe version because you can personalize them.  The first step was gathering the supplies: deciding on and finding the right container is basic to success: baby food rarely comes in glass screw top jars now and are thus hard to find. I decided to use short wide mouth glass canning jars which give you more options in the size and shape of decorative items to include. I have since emptied other glass jars that will work for future projects but I like the nostalgic look of the canning jars.  I had to keep reminding myself that the contents had to be waterproof because they will be in water for a long time. This limits what you choose to include in your design.  I also recommend allowing plenty of time (24 - 48 hours) after each application of glue. Depending on the complexity of the design this might be several steps and several hours. (one complete, one still a work in progress)

I followed the books's directions on adding water and glitter. I considered egg shells but like the extra "bling" that glitter provides. I used silver and white so that they would fall at different rates and prolong the show and it worked. Some other sources recommend adding something like glycerin or liquid soap to keep the glitter or snow in suspension longer but that wasn't necessary.  I did not use the lid as the bottom of the "snow globe" as directed in this book. I wanted the globes to last longer without rusting or leaking, so the lid is my top!  I would consider experimenting with sealable plastic containers the next time when making globes with or for young children. Snow globes are an interactive experience and I'm sure my kids will find a way to break these at some point...it's just bound to happen!  I think they turned out really cute though!
There were several projects that caught my interest. Many are very quick and even one would add a special personal touch to your home, holiday celebrations or gift giving. The Knit a hat project in the book is a quick easy project for even the beginner.   The Make your own Christmas stocking ideas in the book are great inspiration for making your own stocking or alternative shapes and many don't require sewing or special skills such as knitting or embroidery. Many seem to be quick and easy so there is still time to personalize a stocking for your self or someone else. I decided to reuse materials that I have on hand. I am set to cut up an old well worn favorite jacket and turn the fabric into something that I can enjoy for Christmases to come.

This is definitely a Christmas project book with ideas for simple projects that can be made, many with your kids help.  You may have seen some of the ideas before, and some may just not make sense for your home (like making a ladder into a Christmas tree) but this book has some great projects for those just getting started in crafts or trying something new.  Many projects can be made with items you probably already have on hand!

Buy It!
You can purchase A Homemade Christmas: Creative Ideas for an Earth-Friendly, Frugal, Festive Holiday on Amazon for $10.17 or in your local book reseller for $14.95!
