Toys 'R Us & Babies 'R Us - The Great Trade-In Event!

Toys"R"Us, Inc. unveiled a national program that provides customers the opportunity to trade-in used cribs, car seats and other baby products in exchange for savings on a new item. The "Great Trade-In" event is designed to call attention to the fact that, due to safety concerns, certain used baby products, such as car seats and cribs, are not the best candidates to be handed down or resold.

During the "Great Trade-In" event, which begins Friday, August 28 and continues through Sunday, September 20, all Babies"R"Us and Toys"R"Us locations nationwide will accept returns of any used cribs, car seats, bassinets, strollers, travel systems, play yards and high chairs in exchange for a 20% savings on the purchase of any new baby item, in any of these product categories, from select manufacturers.

Manufacturers participating in the "Great Trade-In" event include Baby Cache, Babi Italia, Baby Trend, Bertini, Britax, Chicco, Contours by Kolcraft, Cosco, Delta, Eddie Bauer, Evenflo, Graco, Jeep, Nature's Purest by Summer Infant, Safety 1st and Sorelle. Customers can save 20% on a new purchase, from any of the specified product categories and from any of the aforementioned manufacturers, in Babies"R"Us and Toys"R"Us stores nationwide on the day they trade in their used item.

Please note: Day care centers or other organizations who wish to exchange items in bulk are encouraged to contact their local Babies"R"Us or Toys"R"Us store prior to returning their used items to ensure adequate availability of new merchandise.

To read more about the program, visit this website!

Somedays I just hate coupons!....and Target!

Sorry, I have to spend a little time venting! I attempted the Target deals on Johnson & Johnson and Aveeno Baby that Marcy talks about on her Stretching a Buck Blog but unfortunately the cash register didn't recognize that the coupon matched the products I had purchased (or so it said, "Item not recognized").

I finished shopping tonight at 7:10PM and started the checkout process at 7:15PM. I didn't leave the store until after 8:10PM after trying to figure out what coupons were accepted, which were denied, and what products I was no longer buying since their registers are crap! So why do I have to vent? Well, I printed the coupons tonight - one of each, not even using the back button to grab a second coupon (eventhough I could have) and the manager had the gall to tell me that I was using fraudulent coupons! I'm sorry, your Target store coupons weren't even recognized by your system, so please tell me that those are fraudulent too! The manager was willing to override the Target coupons, or so they said. I began to review my receipt, and noted that after removing all the items that "were not recognized by the system" and the associated Target coupons, that they hadn't scanned the coupons for the other items I had purchased.

To top it off, Target wanted to keep the "fraudulent" coupons. I took them back and said, I will just go and spend my $75 bucks at Wal-mart or Kroger instead! After over an hour trying to deal with the stupid coupons, I returned $75 worth of merchandise (had coupons totaling about $40 for that merchandise - so I would have been well stocked on all baby bath items for the year for $35 - oh well), received $10 in cash for the coupons that hadn't been entered in the first place after the poor customer service girl had to go and pull all the coupons from the cash register and count up all the coupons on my receipt, verify the total amounts, and check for each and every item! (Not to mention that other's coupons were mixed in with mine) - ugh!

Despite the recent deals at Target, I think I am done shopping there for awhile! I am glad we are stocked up on wipes from Walgreens, and deodorant and toothpaste from CVS. I feel like I wasted over an hour of my life just trying to prove to them that I actually purchased the items, then removing all the items, and making sure all the coupons were accounted for...I think I am still out about $3, but I gave up at that point and headed home!

I missed putting my baby to sleep all because Target's computer system is messed up! Think twice before attempting to use Target coupons, and for some reason, they think all Internet printable coupons are fraudulent! What have your experiences been with Internet printables lately? It seems like stores are swaying back to the point that they are no longer accepting the Internet coupons...I thought we were past that point! I wish that those that are dishonest would stop, so that the rest of us could make an honest deal on items we need or are planning to donate to others!

Review & coupon giveaway: Pillsbury simpy.... cookies!

My almost 3-yr old loves cookies, so after receiving an opportunity to try the new Pillsbury simply.... cookies, we were ecstatic! simply.... cookies are made with ingredients like flour, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

They have 0g of trans fat, no high fructose corn syrup, and no artificial colors of flavors. We tried the simply.... cookies in chocolate chip, and they taste much more like homemade than typical refrigerator cookies! My kids loved them, and I think you will too!

If you would like to try them, I have 4 coupons for $1.25 off a package of simply.... refrigerated cookies so leave a comment and then send me an e-mail. If you are one of the first four to respond, then I will mail a coupon out to you! It's as easy as that. Don't want to wait for a coupon, then go here to print a $1 off coupon! Money Saving Mondays! e-Coupons - my lazy way to save money!

I thought I would start a series called Money Saving Mondays! I love to save money, post deals, and just in general make my dollar stretch a little further so keep up with me on Mondays for some easy ways to save money! This is the first in a series of many money saving tips - e-Coupons!

For me, coupons have become a shopping staple, but I have to admit that all that clipping and sorting can be a pain sometimes. Lately, I haven't even been keeping them sorted by week (I will have to change that, I think I just got overwhelmed and needed to take a break) (if you'll remember, I actually threw all my coupons away just a few weeks back). That’s why I’ve decided to dedicate this post to a few trusty (and free!) paperless coupon sources.

The process is simple: sign up online, load their coupons on your store’s shopping card, and they’ll automatically deduct when you scan your card at the checkout. The best part is that you can stack these coupons with paper coupons, so you can often get items for really cheap or even free! Most of these services are available at only select merchants, but they seem to keep adding more! If you read my previous blog ($20 Challenge for Charity), you've probably seen this post before but I wanted to revisit it because all of these sites keep adding more coupons each month and I've added a few more tidbits of information!

Upromise.com

UPromise.com: Earn some extra money for college or pay off qualified student expenses with UPromise.com. The program has TONS of partners, including restaurants, grocery stores, drugstores, and online retailers. For a more detailed look at how this program works, click here!. Although the savings aren't immediate with UPromise.com, these e-coupons can be used with other e-coupons and paper coupons. Plus once you register your credit card too, you can save money for college at lots of places you might shop!

P&G e-Saver: Anyone who buys the Sunday paper for the coupons should be familiar with the monthly P&G Saver coupons for personal care and health products and a few food items. Did you know they also have the paperless version, P&G e-Saver? The paperless coupons are currently only available at Kroger stores, but anyone can sign up to receive e-newsletters featuring additional coupons and sample offers! All the sample and coupon offers are on the same page, so it makes it very easy to navigate! Like others, you can use the e-coupons along with the paper coupons from the Sunday insert!

Shortcuts: Shortcuts is easy to use, and they offer coupons for a variety of brand name items. You can save up to 50 coupons at a time on your grocery card, create a grocery list, and receive e-mail notifications based on how much you saved during a shopping trip or new coupons that are available. Right now, Shortcuts is only available at about a dozen or so partner stores, but they are always accepting requests for more stores. If you store isn't included, you should ask! Plus, shortcuts will send you reminders when your coupons are expiring or when they add new coupons!

Cellfire: With Cellfire, you have the option of loading coupons onto a store card or downloading them to your cell phone. In addition to grocery coupons, you can also get discounts for restaurants, movie rentals, and more! Sign up and enter your zip code to check out your local deals. One plus - no spam on your cell phone (at least I haven't gotten any in the three plus months I've been using cellfire). Previously, Cellfire only had e-coupons in my area for Kroger, but recently has added Randalls and Tom Thumb. In addition, you can have cellfire send your cellphone coupon codes that can be used at retailers such as Best Buy and Payless Shoes!

If anyone knows of any other good e-coupon sources, just let me know and I’ll feature them in a future post! Plus I would love to check them out! This is truly the easy way to save money, and since the savings are automatic at checkout, you don't have to worry about forgetting to hand over your coupons! Have questions about e-coupons? Leave me a comment, I will try my best to answer them!

Want to join in on Money Saving Mondays? Copy my button, post it on your blog, and leave me a comment with a link to your post (I will figure out the Mr. Linky thing soon)!
