Friday's Kid-Tested Recipe: Nilla Wafer Ice Cream Treats!
I hate sneaking food into my children's diets, so I thought I would share some of the recipes that I make with my kids (ages 3 & 2)! When kids help cook, they rarely avoid the food because they helped to make it! I'll try to note steps that even the youngest children can help with in the kitchen!
This is probably the easiest dessert that your kids can help you make in the kitchen! There is nothing hot but it can get messy!
Nilla Wafer Ice Cream Treats!
What you'll need!
Nilla Wafers (or other small crunchy cookie without filling)
Variety of ice cream flavors
Small Cookie Scoop (Like the Oxo Good Grips Small Cookie Scoop)
How to make them!
Holding the Nilla wafer flat side up, take a small scoop of your favorite flavor of ice cream and place on the wafer. Place a second wafer on top (flat side to the ice cream) and smush until you have a little sandwich. While you're working, wrap small batches in plastic wrap or foil and place in the freezer to harden. Let each Ice Cream Treat Freeze for about an hour to harden before serving! This is a great kid's party treat too!
Gadgets that will help with this recipe!
