Review & Giveaway - The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean - 2 winners (8/31) - CLOSED

This giveaway has ended!  Thanks for visiting!
Being a nerd in my day to day life, I was excited at the promise of a book that told the history of the periodic table of elements through the use of anecdotes, stories of noble prize winners, and the funny and sometimes chilling tales that go along with each of the elements in the periodic table. Kean does a great job at capturing the fun of chemistry (I never liked Chemistry and actually had a teacher in high-school say that I really wasn’t cut out for it). For those that slept through Chemistry, or even cringed at the thought of climbing out of bed in college to make it to class (mine was at 7am and I normally went in pajamas), this book is an entertaining read even for you!

I was truly entertained by the author’s ability to mix humor with science and tie stories to each of the elements on the periodic table. If you’re a little rusty on your chemistry background, you might feel like it takes a little time to dust off that part of your brain but this is a fun read that you should definitely check out!

My favorite is Au (gold) because it goes so well with my coloring. I always wear some on my left hand to remind everyone that I will accept offerings.

Thanks for stopping by our blog earlier. We're always happy to make new friends.

What a great mandatory entry! I love reading everybody else's answers. :) I actually am pretty fascinated by Hydrogen because it's the first element in the periodic table, and the lightest. I think of it as the building block of the world (though that might just be me!).
Thanks...I can't wait to read this book!
